 Hon. Richard P. D'Addario Newport, Rhode Island Associate
The Honorable Richard P. D'Addario is admitted to the bar in the States of New York and
Rhode Island
, where he has practiced law since 1971. Mr. D'Addario has served as Probate Judge for the Town of Tiverton since 1993 and was the Municipal Court Judge for the Town of
Middletown from 2004 to 2006.
Mr. D'Addario came to
Rhode Island in 1971 as a Vista Volunteer for Rhode Island Legal Services. He went on to become a Staff Attorney and later a Managing Attorney of the
Newport office of Rhode Island Legal Services where he handled a variety of civil cases for persons unable to afford to hire an attorney.
Beginning in 1976, Mr. D'Addario actively engaged in the general practice of law in
Newport
. He was a partner in the firm of Hall, D'Addario and Machtley from 1978 to 1985.
Mr. D'Addario's present office at
One Courthouse Square was founded on September 1, 1985.
One Courthouse Square is located in the former Short Line/Bonanza bus terminal in the heart of
Newport
. The office is conveniently located directly behind the Newport County Courthouse.
In addition to the two judgeships, Mr. D'Addario has served as Assistant Town Solicitor for the Town of
Middletown
. He has also been involved in a wide variety of common activities in his 35 years of practice and has served on numerous non-profit boards. He was President of the Board of Child and Family Services from 1978-1985. At the present time he is a member of the
Newport County YMCA board. He is also active in the Rhode Island Bar Association, serving as a member of the House of Delegates, the Availability of Legal Services Committee, and the Nominating Committee. He also has been appointed by the Rhode Island Supreme Court as a member of the Committee on the Unauthorized Practice of Law.
Mr. D'Addario is a member of the National College of Probate Judges, the Rhode Island Probate Judges Association, the Rhode Island Municipal Court Judges Association, the Justinian Law Society, the Rhode Island Mortgage Bankers Association, and the Newport County Board of Realtors.
Mr. D'Addario is an authorized title insurance agent for Chicago Title Insurance Company, Mortgage Guarantee Title Insurance Company, Stewart Title, Commonwealth Land Title Insurance Company, United General Title Insurance Company, Connecticut Attorney's Title Insurance Company and Land

In his spare time, Mr. D'Addario enjoys tending to his 5 acre garden in Tiverton. He also is an avid golfer, and enjoys cooking, traveling and watching sports. He is a member of the Newport National Golf Association and Montaup Country Club. He is married, has two sons and three grandchildren.
